Run or walk with nature, celebrate Upper Pottsgrove arboretum grand opening

UPPER POTTSGROVE >> The community is invited to celebrate the grand opening of Althouse Arboretum with a 5K run and fun walk on Saturday.

The Althouse Arboretum was made possible though a partnership with a nonprofit organization that promotes environmental sustainability called Green Allies and the Upper Pottsgrove Township.

The arboretum is a recent addition to the area and was made possible through a partnership with a nonprofit organization that promotes environmental sustainability called Green Allies and the Upper Pottsgrove Township.

The 1st Annual Sprogel’s Trail Run and Fun Walk will be held at the arboretum Saturday, Sept. 26. The 3.1-mile run will take participants through three Upper Pottsgrove parks including the trails of the new arboretum. The public can also choose to walk one or two miles on the trails.

The 5K will began 10 a.m. and the fun walk will start at about 10:15 a.m. Registration will be from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. The run is $25 to register and the walk is $10. All proceeds will benefit the Green Allies organization. Parking will be at the Hillside Aquatic Club and the address is 134 West Moyer Road, Pottstown.

Starting at 10:30 a.m., there will also be a grand opening ceremony at the arboretum followed by a community picnic. Area residents are invited to check out the features of the beautiful open space.
