POTTSTOWN >> Whether it’s stress, fatigue or a big breakfast; walk it off at this week’s community stroll.
The Mercury Mile will meet noon Wednesday and participants will walk the Rosedale Drive neighborhood. The community is invited to the mile-long walk to enjoy viewing the beautiful houses in the neighborhood and get some fresh air. Walkers are to meet in the Subway parking lot located at 1432 E. High St.
Everyone’s invited. Coworkers, family, friends and even pets are more than welcomed to join the community walk. Walking as a physical activity has numerous benefits including positive mental health, healthy aging and reducing the risks of chronic diseases. The Mercury Mile walks will end this month until next year so participate while there’s still time.
The Mercury Mile is weekly and promotes walking and other fitness activities as a free exercise. It also gives the community the opportunity to talk with area organizations. Sometimes, different businesses or organizations host The Mercury Mile. The walk has travelled from one organization to the next encouraging staff to walk at lunch and inviting the community to join as well. Walkers are asked to bring business cards or contact information to exchange with one another. Find out what’s going on in the area and form new partnerships.
Businesses that host The Mercury Mile will be featured in our “Businesses in Motion” section online and in the print newspaper. Organizations interested in hosting the walk should email Michilea Patterson at email@example.com or call 610-850-0282 to schedule a time.
To find each week’s location, visit the Fit for Life website pottsmercfit4life.wordpress.com and like the Facebook page www.facebook.com/Mercfit4life. Walkers can also be added to The Mercury Mile email list by contacting Michilea Patterson at firstname.lastname@example.org. Send your name from the email you would like to use, and each week the mile’s location will be sent to you as well as other healthy living events coming up in the area.
If there is inclement weather on Wednesday then the walk will be cancelled and the Mercury Mile will resume next week.
