From Press Release
Yoga Design Lab, the Bali based yoga mat company, has donated over $10,000 worth of yoga mats to New York City and Washington, D.C. schools in its commitment to help support and grow urban youth yoga programs.
The recently launched yoga brand has been shaking up the industry with it’s uber colorful yoga mats described by Refinery29 and Harper’s Bazaar as ‘stunning works of art’. This is the first donation the company has made in its pledge to donate $1 from each sale to urban youth yoga programs in need.
“The goal is to help inspire mindfulness, meditation, and physical health within our youth. Our future. Planting that seed early is something we really believe in,” said Chad Turner, founder of Yoga Design Lab.
What does Yoga mean to you? “Yoga means making me a more relaxed person because if you’re in a bad mood, it can relax you down,” said a six-year-old scholar at Success Academy Bensonhurst
Yoga Design Lab has partnered with Browne Education Campus in Washington, D.C., Success Academy Charter Schools in New York City, and Project Yoga in Richmond, among others, and is excited to expand it’s network with more partnerships in the near future. As the company launches into the Europe and Japan this month, similar local donation programs are being established.
Outside of donations made from mat sales, Yoga Design Lab is increasing sustainability by up-cycling returned yoga towels and donating them to animal shelters as an alternative to throwing them away. Washington Animal Rescue League is an active partner who uses YDL’s upcycled hot yoga towels for their “kitty yoga” classes where the community comes to practice with shelter cats in the studio.
ABOUT YOGA DESIGN LAB
The innovative yoga brand has been shaking up the industry with uber colorful yoga mats described by Refinery29 and Harper’s Bazaar as ‘stunning works of art’. With a growing U.S. celebrity following and recent design collaboration with famed New York Designer Mara Hoffman, the company is excited for the next steps of it’s growth into the yoga market.
Designed in Bali by a Canadian surfer/yogi named Chad, who sold all his stuff and moved there to launch the idea in 2014. The young brand produces visually stunning, fashion-forward, eco-friendly yoga products designed to inspire.
“I was seated in the back of a packed yoga class while on vacation in Ubud, Bali. Looking around, all I saw was a sea of unoriginal, massed produced, solid colored mats. My thinking was, there must be a way of creating a highly functional product that was also aesthetically beautiful. So the journey began. Long story short, I sold my stuff, packed up a couple bags and moved to Bali with the goal of creating a stunning line of yoga products that inspire more people to get excited about yoga,” said Chad Turner, founder of Yoga Design Lab
Blending fashion-forward design elements with innovative functionality and bio-renewable consciousness is key to the Yoga Design Lab approach. From insulated stainless steel water bottles, to yoga mats comprised of biodegradable natural tree rubber, to the water based inks used in the printed designs, we can all make a difference with the products we buy.
