POTTSTOWN >> Spring has made its grand arrival so it’s the perfect time to celebrate children with a free family event on April 16.
The fun-filled day will include farm animals, a moon bounce, swimming and lots more. PEAK is hosting its 10th Annual Pottstown Celebrates Young Children festivity. PEAK stands for Pottstown Action for Kindergarten Readiness and prepares young children for success in school. This year’s family event will partner with the Pottstown YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day. The free co-celebration will be at the Pottstown High School, located at 750 N. Washington St., from 1 to 3 p.m.
About 1,500 people came out to last year’s young children celebration. The fun event continues to grow every year and always includes many activities. The Mercury’s Fit for Life will once again partner with the Pottstown YMCA to provide a kid-friendly obstacle course where prizes will be raffled off.
There will also be a free community swim at the Pottstown YMCA. The Greater Pottstown Tennis & Learning organization will be providing family fun on the high school’s tennis courts. Smoky the Bear will be in attendance along with other mascots. The celebration will also have a petting farm, music with D.J. Steve and healthy eating options.
More than 40 organizations will be represented at the event so families can learn more about the available resources in the area. Pottstown Memorial Medical Center is the main sponsor for the free celebration.
“We are very thankful for the partnership with Pottstown Memorial Medical Center. Pottstown Celebrates Young Children is a great way to raise awareness for early education and services of the hospital, as well as an enjoyable afternoon for the whole family,” said PEAK coordinator Mary Rieck in a press release.
