POTTSTOWN >> Children can run the distance and dash in color during two free fitness events at The Hill School Friday.
Families are invited to participate in a free ½ mile color run that begins 5:30 p.m. from The Hill School’s Center for the Arts parking lot. The address is 766 Beech St. Children and adults are encouraged to wear white, then join the short color dash. Volunteers will be dusting people with colored powdered from bottles as they run.
The color run is part of a community wellness initiative called Strong at Heart. Local schools, ministries and non-profit organizations have come together to provide healthy events for Pottstown area families. Strong at Heart is also doing a challenge with Pottstown fourth grade students. The first 100 students to complete the tasks of the challenge, which include participating in a color run, will earn a free, brand new Huffy bicycle. There will be a bike safety rodeo in partnership with the Pottstown Police Athletic League (PAL) on June 18. For more about Strong at Heart or the challenge, visit the website sahpottstown.com/event/pottstown-4th-grade-strong-at-heart-challenge or contact PAL at 610-327-0527.
The Hill School will also have a free community track night from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Hauser Track. Registration opens at 5:15 p.m. The fitness event is open to all children ages 2 to 14. Track events include several distance dashes starting from 40 meters. The community will also have an opportunity to participate in field events such as the long jump, football throw, Frisbee toss and softball put. Refreshments will be available during the event. Parking will be in The Hill School’s Far Fields parking lot which is accessible from Beech Street.
