POTTSTOWN >> More than 30 people came out to dance for fun and fitness during a free outdoor Zumba class at Memorial Park.

The 45-minute class Wednesday evening included a variety of dance styles to popular hit songs. Children and adults held smiles on their faces as they moved to the beat. The public event was a collaborative effort between the Pottstown YMCA, The Mercury’s Fit for Life initiative and Pottstown Parks and Recreation. YMCA instructor Lizette Clark led the energetic class and teaches Zumba classes at the Pottstown Y weekly.

The park Zumba party was the first of a series of free fitness events happening this summer through a partnership between the Y and Fit for Life. This is the third summer the two organizations have come together to offer the community fun physical activities that the whole family can enjoy.
