POTTSTOWN >> If you like to move it, move it then you’ll want to come out to this week’s Mercury Mile stroll.
Leave the errands for later, step away from the computer and come out to a lunchtime outdoor one-mile walk. The community is invited to this free social activity which will begin outside the Family Dollar Store in Pottstown at noon Wednesday. The store’s address is 399 Farmington Avenue. It’s located near the intersection of North Hanover and Oak Streets.
While taking a short walk around the neighborhood, participants will learn about a free indoor glow-light Zumba class happening Friday at the Coventry Mall. The hour long fitness party will include dancing to music, all while wearing glow necklaces and bracelets to light up the dark. The event begins 7 p.m. at the space near Dick’s Sporting Goods and Books-A-Million. Fit for Life is hosting the fun activity along with Coventry Mall and the Pottstown YMCA. For more information, visit the Facebook event page at www.facebook.com/events/1262341287139270.
The Mercury Mile is weekly and promotes walking and other fitness activities as a free exercise. Sometimes, different businesses or organizations host the weekly activity. The walk has travelled from one organization to the next encouraging staff to walk at lunch and inviting the community to join as well. Walkers are asked to bring business cards or contact information to exchange with one another.
Businesses that host The Mercury Mile will be featured in our “Businesses in Motion” section online and in the print newspaper. Organizations interested in hosting the walk should email Michilea Patterson at email@example.com or call 610-850-0282 to schedule a time.
To find each week’s location, visit the Fit for Life websitepottsmercfit4life.com and like the Facebook page www.facebook.com/Mercfit4life. Walkers can also be added to The Mercury Mile email list by contacting Patterson. If there is inclement weather Wednesday afternoon then the walk will be cancelled but make sure to still attend glow-light Zumba on Friday.
