LIMERICK >> The Mercury Mile will combine retail therapy with the benefits of walking on Wednesday.

The community is invited to an afternoon stroll at the Philadelphia Premium Outlets in Limerick. The outlets are a great way to walk outdoors while doing some window shopping at the same time. The social walk will help participants get some afternoon steps in while learning more about area organizations and businesses.

A local Beef Jerky Outlet opened in early October. The outlet has more than 200 varieties of jerky. The Mercury Mile walk will begin from the beef jerky store at noon Wednesday. The address of the Philadelphia Premium Outlets is 18 W. Lightcap Road. The Beef Jerky Outlet is located near the Nike Factory and Lane Bryant. There is parking available right next to Lane Bryant. For a map of the outlet stores, visit www.premiumoutlets.com/outlet/philadelphia/map.

Walkers will do a 1-mile route along the outlet’s paved sidewalks and will pass another newly opened store, RBX Active. The New-York based fitness brand recently opened a local store at the Philadelphia Premium Outlets. The store has active clothes for men, children and women including plus-sizes. The local outlet store also sells fitness accessories like watches, yoga mats and resistance bands.

The Mercury Mile is weekly during the warm months of the year and promotes walking and other fitness activities as a free exercise. The walk has travelled from one organization to the next encouraging people to walk at lunch and come together as a community. The last Mercury Mile walk of the year will be next Wednesday, Nov. 9, at noon and will begin from the Pottstown Cluster of Religious Communities in Pottstown.

To find each week’s location, visit the Fit for Life website pottsmercfit4life.com and like the Facebook page www.facebook.com/Mercfit4life. Walkers can also be added to The Mercury Mile email list by contacting Patterson at mpatterson@pottsmerc.com. If there is inclement weather Wednesday afternoon then the walk will be cancelled.
